where all my creations come to life
I work mainly in silver but use gold for special details. I also combine silver with selected semi-precious stones and leather.
My inspirations are largely driven by exploring technical potential of the metal. I use texture and special finishes to enhance the finished pieces. My current signature pieces are baby rattles and drawing with wire
BABY RATTLES
For a christening, naming ceremony or just a welcome present for the new baby the perfect choice is a baby rattle.
I made the first rattle for my daughter Hannah 37 years ago. Since then further refinements mean that the rattle is a distinctive gift for a special occasion, an ideal choice for grandparents, god parents. The rattle is suitable for boys and girls. With the addition of a chain the rattle converts to a fine pendant.
Each rattle comes with a handwritten gift card with details of the beads used, colour co-ordinated ribbons and a stylish
presentation box.
The bracelet design was developed recently and is a charming link bracelet, with birthstone bead, and has the flexibility to be worn at any age and will continue to be useful into adulthood.

DRAWING WITH WIRE
My new work has takes the observation and recording of ordinary objects, organic or inorganic, to another dimension by using black iron wire.
I am taking explorations into the qualities of line further by rendering my drawings in iron wire. The initial collection of wire creatures include chickens and dragonflies, together with seedpods. The clean lines of the wire are enhanced by shadows that occur on the canvas frames and this will be exploited in further renderings. My sketch books are filling up with the next range of drawings that will be given the wire treatment, a wonderful collection of strong structural shapes taken from observations in nature and of the urban environment.
I have taken the opportunity to go back to my original art school training to develop this side of my creative expression and have been delighted to be able to find something that echoes my work as a jeweller. Although jewellery making this has been restricted recently, as I learn to live with arthritis, I am still working but mainly to commission only.
